Pontop Pike, on high ground in County Durham to the south west, is the transmitter most Gateshead homes point at for Freeview. Signal is generally good across the borough, though the slopes down to the Tyne and taller buildings nearby can create weak spots. We measure the signal on site and set the aerial for steady reception on every multiplex. Older aerials still pointing in the wrong direction are a surprisingly common reason for missing channels.
The older streets here include Tyneside flats, where upstairs and downstairs are separate homes under one roof. Each may want its own aerial feed, so we can fit a splitter or amplifier and run tidy cables so both households get a clear picture.
Out west, semis and detached houses often have a TV in the lounge plus several bedrooms. We add extra TV points, take down old satellite dishes when families switch to Sky Stream, and mount large TVs neatly on the wall. Garden rooms and home offices can have their own TV point too.

He quickly diagnosed the problem as not being the aerial, but the masthead amp & power unit. He had a spare on his van, and the work was completed within 30 minutes.

Yes. We visit Birtley, Blaydon, Whickham, Ryton, Dunston, Felling, Low Fell and Wrekenton as well as central Gateshead. A quick postcode check on this page will confirm it.
Upper and lower flats often share an aerial through a cheap splitter, which can halve the signal to each. Fitting a powered amplifier, renewing old cable or giving each flat its own aerial usually fixes it. We test both feeds so neither home loses out.
Most of Gateshead is served by Pontop Pike, to the south west. An aerial pointing elsewhere, or one that has moved in strong wind, can lose channels. We check the alignment with a signal meter and adjust or replace the aerial if needed.
