Likely cause

A failed masthead amplifier or its power supply, or a fault at the aerial.

Usual fix

Test and replace the amplifier or power unit before looking at the aerial.

Three quick checks before you call

Check Freeview transmitter alerts →
Check 1

Try another TV

If the other TVs in the house are fine, the fault is probably that TV, its lead or its socket rather than the aerial.

Check 2

Check the aerial lead

Push it firmly into the wall and the TV at both ends, and swap in a spare lead if you have one.

Check 3

Find the booster

If your system has a power unit, it's often behind a TV, in a cupboard or in the loft. Check it's plugged in and lit.

From first call to final picture check.

You know what's happening and what it costs at every stage.

Step 1

Tell us the problem

What's happening, which TVs are affected, and your postcode.

Step 2

Book a visit

A time that suits you, often the same day. We'll tell you when the engineer is on the way.

Step 3

Test and explain

The engineer tests the system, finds the cause and quotes before any work starts.

Step 4

Fix and check

The agreed work is done and every TV is checked for a clear, stable picture.

Steve quickly diagnosed the problem as not being the aerial, but the masthead amp & power unit. He had a spare on his van, and the work was completed within 30 minutes.

Questions we get asked.

Can you fix poor Freeview reception without a new aerial?
−

Often, yes. Many faults come from a cable, a connector, a socket or a failed amplifier rather than the aerial itself. We test the system first so you only replace what's actually faulty.

It depends on the fault, access to the aerial, the cable route and any parts needed. A cable or connector repair usually costs less than a new aerial or a multi-room system. You get a free, no obligation quote before any work starts.

There's no call out charge for quoted work. You're given the price before the job starts, so you can decide whether to go ahead.

Often, depending on your area, the job and engineer availability. Calling early in the day gives you the best chance.

If the other TVs are fine, the aerial is probably working. The fault is more likely the wall socket, the lead, a splitter or the cable run to that room.

Yes, just mention it when you book. The engineer can mount the TV, run the aerial lead to its new position and tidy the cables in one visit.

Yes. We remove the dish and its cables, make good the wall, and can run a hidden cable from your router to the TV so the box doesn't buffer.

Yes. We reroute the aerial, network and HDMI cables to the new position, hide them in the wall where possible, and remount and reconnect everything.

Yes. We're approved Freesat installers and also fit, align and repair dishes for Sky and other services.
