Common satellite dish problems we fix

Most satellite faults come down to the dish position, the LNB or the cabling. These are the ones we see most often.

  • 'No signal' messageUsually the dish has moved out of line, the LNB has failed or a cable has been damaged. We measure the satellite signal at the dish and realign it or replace the faulty part.
  • Freezing picture or missing channelsUsually a weak signal from a slightly misaligned dish, or water in a connector. We fine-tune the alignment with a signal meter and reseal the connections.
  • Dish moved after bad weatherWind can loosen brackets and knock the dish off its satellite. We resecure the bracket and realign the dish, or replace it if it's bent.
  • Faulty or water-damaged LNBThe LNB is the arm on the front of the dish that picks up the signal. When it fails, all channels can be lost. We replace it and test every connection.
  • Only one room is affectedIf the other boxes work, the dish is fine. The fault is usually the cable, a connector or the wall plate in that room, which we trace and repair.
  • The dish isn't used any moreMoved to streaming? We can take the old dish down, remove the cables and make good the fixings.

Satellite dish FAQs

Do I need a dish for satellite TV?

Yes. Freesat and satellite Sky services need a correctly installed and aligned dish. Sky Stream and Sky Glass work over broadband instead and don't need one.

Can you install Freesat?

Yes. We're approved Freesat installers. We fit or check the dish, connect your Freesat box or compatible TV and tune the channels.

Can my old dish be reused?

Often, yes, if it's secure, in good condition and can hold a reliable signal. We test it first and only recommend a new dish if it's needed.

Can you realign my satellite dish?

Yes. Realignment can fix freezing, missing channels and 'no signal' messages when the dish has moved.

Can you remove a satellite dish?

Yes. We take down dishes that are no longer used, along with the bracket and redundant cables where they can be reached.

Can you add satellite points in other rooms?

Yes, where suitable. It depends on your equipment, the property layout and the LNB connections available. Each room is signal tested.

How long does a satellite installation take?

Most standard jobs are done in one visit. Access, cable routing and extra points can add time.

How much does a satellite dish installation cost?

It depends on whether you need a new dish or a repair, access to the mounting position, the cable route and how many rooms need a satellite point. You get a free, no obligation quote before any work starts.

Is there a call out charge?

There's no call out charge for quoted work. You get a free, no obligation quote and agree the price before any work starts.
