Sutton takes its Freeview from Crystal Palace to the north-east. Most of the borough has a good signal, but the ground rises towards Belmont, Banstead and the North Downs, and the many mature trees in Cheam and Carshalton can weaken reception, especially in summer when they're in full leaf. We check signal strength at your home before recommending an aerial. Homes on the flatter ground near Hackbridge and the River Wandle usually see fewer problems.
Big trees and spacious gardens look great but can sit right between the aerial and the transmitter. Raising the aerial on a longer mast or moving it to a different part of the roof is often the answer, and Freesat makes a good backup. Carshalton's older cottages, by contrast, may have aerials tucked behind chimneys that need moving.
Newer developments near Hackbridge and Wallington sometimes come without a rooftop aerial. We fit aerials, add TV points to bedrooms and set up wall-mounted TVs with neat cabling, or set up Sky Stream if you'd rather go without a dish.

Trees in full leaf absorb and scatter the signal, and wet leaves make it worse. In Sutton's leafier roads this is a common reason for summer pixelation. Raising the aerial above the trees or adjusting its position usually solves it.
