TV reception in Huddersfield

Emley Moor, whose tall mast can be seen across much of West Yorkshire, is the transmitter for most of Huddersfield and stands a few miles east of the town. Near the mast reception is usually excellent, but in the Colne and Holme valleys to the west the hills can block the signal, and homes there may need a high-gain aerial or a local relay. We test at your property before fitting anything.

Stone terraces and mill cottages

Gritstone houses have thick walls and solid chimneys. We fix aerials securely, drill cleanly through stone for cable runs and use the right fixings for wall mounting TVs in older homes and converted mills. Long cable runs in converted mill flats can also be tidied or replaced to improve the signal.

Valley villages in the Pennines

In Marsden, Slaithwaite and Holmfirth, steep valley sides and moorland weather are hard on aerials. We fit high-gain models on strong masts, or a Freesat dish where terrestrial signal will not reach. Exposed hillside homes get extra-strong brackets to cope with the wind off the moors.

He quickly diagnosed the problem as not being the aerial, but the masthead amp & power unit. He had a spare on his van, and the work was completed within 30 minutes.

TV installation FAQs for Huddersfield

Do you cover Holmfirth and Mirfield?

Yes. We cover Holmfirth, Marsden, Slaithwaite, Kirkburton, Lindley, Almondbury, Honley and Mirfield. Quickest way to be sure? Type your postcode into the checker.

Why is my picture poor in Marsden when Emley Moor is so close?

Marsden is further from Emley Moor than it might seem, and the valley sides block much of the signal heading up the Colne Valley. A high-gain aerial or a taller mast can help, and Freesat is a reliable alternative. We test at your home before recommending anything.

Can you wall mount a TV on a stone wall?

Yes. We use masonry bits and heavy-duty fixings suited to stone, check the wall is sound and make sure the bracket is rated for your TV. Cables can be run neatly in trunking or hidden where the wall allows.
